7 on 7 Lions go 2-1 for 2nd week

For the second week in a row the Dublin Lions 7 on 7 team went 2-1 in state qualifying tournament play as they traveled to Lindsay. “Overall, they played pretty well,” said Dublin High School Athletic Director Greg Hardcastle.

Volleyball, baseball, softball camps set

Dublin High School is hosting three summer camps on June 10-12 so kids can learn from varsity players and staff. Volleyball Lady Lions Volleyball Camp will be held from 1 p.m.

GOOD. Water stained; 77 degrees; 4.28 feet below pool. Water is dirty on the main lake and muddy towards the rivers. Black bass to 6.41 pounds are slow on jigs, shaky heads and top waters in 2-10 feet of water. Crappie to 11 inches are fair under docks with black and chartreuse or white with a chartreuse head jigs in 9 feet of water, and on brush piles with minnows in 12 feet. White bass are fair on crankbaits and small swimbaits. Catfish are good to 5 pounds on cut or prepared bait at Thrifty Park.

Summer camps start soon

Dublin ISD has announced the dates for several of their summer camps so young Lions and Lady Lions can learn from district staff and players. Basketball Dublin Lions and Lady Lions are inviting kids 6-15 to the Flyin’ Lion Basketball Camps May 28-30 from 1 p.m.

7 on 7 starts summer season

The Dublin Lions started their 7 on 7 season by hosting a state qualifying tournament Saturday, May 18. The Lions narrowly missed advancement by beating Stephenville JV 27-13 and Hico 19-18 before falling to the advancing team from the tourney, Blue Ridge (20-7).

LABC, coaches honor athletes

Athletes and their families showed up in dress attire Tuesday, May 14 as the Lingleville Athletic Booster Club provided a special dinner for the first time at the Lingleville Athletic Awards Banquet, while coaches presented awards to LJH and LHS athletes.

Turley signs to cheer on Rams

DHS senior Madison Turley officially signed to cheer for Angelo State University with a scholarship in a ceremony May 14 at Dublin Secondary. Turley was joined by coaches Kim Perez, Christine Watson, Wes Benfer and Corde Morris, Secondary principal Norma Briseno and her parents, Deanna and Darren, as well as many friends.

Black bass to 9.65 pounds are good on wacky rigs, shaky head and crankbaits in 3-12 feet of water. Crappie up to 13 inches are good along the shoreline with black and chartreuse, or white with chartreuse head jigs out to 4 feet of water. Crappie are good with minnows on brush piles in 10-12 feet of water. White bass are fair during the day, but the bite improves to good on crankbaits and small swimbaits in the lights at night. Catfish are slow on cut or prepared bait around the flats
